To meme...

We all love a funny meme, and when well executed, a meme can get more than just a laugh. Think about it: when something not only stops your scroll but also gets a giggle out of you, you’re so much more likely to remember that brand; the same goes for customers viewing your content. Leaving that kind of indelible mark on your customers can increase engagement resulting in more organic exposure and visibility.

And while we don’t advise jumping on every trendy meme bandwagon, choosing to tap in to a cultural trend that makes sense for your brand can not only position you as a brand that’s timely and in-the-know, but it can also broaden your audience by appealing to a younger demographic.

Furthermore, we can all relate to the sense of community that comes from being a part of a particular moment in time. We challenge you to share a meme that not only gets a laugh but also stirs conversation and camaraderie.

...or not to meme

As with so many things, you should never employ a marketing or social media tactic that doesn’t feel authentic. This is especially true with memes. If a meme doesn’t align with your brand voice, it’s probably best to pass on sharing it.

Your target audience is another important consideration. If you’re aiming to target executive leadership or a higher level audience, memes may not be the best way to meet that particular goal.

Also, if your current strategy is narrow, with a goal such as lead generation or sales versus something like brand awareness, you also may want to stick with more actionable objectives and content.
